How to Donate

All the proceeds from the Bare Your Teeth Bike Tour will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. These funds will be used for brain cancer research and all donations will be matched dollar for dollar by Brain Canada.

If you would like to donate, I am collecting cash and cheque pledges in person. You can also donate on line. Just click HERE. Thank you for all of your support!

Ride With Me Photo Collection

I haven't found anyone to travel with and have decided to continue on my own. Not having anyone to share in the highs and lows of the trip with me is difficult. Thankfully, my Dad came up with an idea to help called Ride With Me.

Many of us have known someone affected by cancer. I am cycling for my Mum and Dad. I will be taking photos of them with me all the way to St. Johns so that I'm not alone. If you have a photo of a loved one that you would like me to carry, please let me know and I will gladly bring it along. You can put a name or message on the back. Whatever you like.

I will be collecting photos all the way along so please come out to the BYT special events, share your story, and Ride With Me.

Fundraising Page is Up!

This bike tour is by far my biggest undertaking to date. Especially now that I have no cycling partners. I'm excited and more than a bit nervous. I've cycle toured before, 600 km being my longest tour to date, and have traveled and wild camped a lot but this is bigger. It sometimes feels a bit overwhelming.

Every time it starts to feel big or overwhelming I think about why I'm doing this. The cause is bigger than all my little worries. I picked the Canadian Cancer Society because its a cause very near and dear to my heart. Seeing my family struggle through cancer has shown me what kind of inner strength we possess. Nothing on this trip will be nearly so hard as what they have gone through already.

My fundraising goal is $10 000. I have every confidence that, with your help, we can meet that goal. If you want to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society in the name of the Bare Your Teeth Bike Tour, just click on the link below.

If you live in Winnipeg, I'm hosting a fundraising social at Joe's Pandora Inn on Saturday, July 25th. Tickets are $20 and include Chinese buffet from Szeto's and one complimentary drink. Obviously there will be a silent auction with some really great prizes. Please come out and show your support.

Thanks to the Canadian Cancer Society for setting up the online fundraising page.

About the Tour

The BYT (Bare Your Teeth) bike tour is a cycle tour spanning over six provinces, fourty days, and nealry 5000km of higway and trails. The tour will begin on August 4th in Winnipeg, MB and will end on September 12th in St. John's NL. All proceeds from the BYT bike tour will be donated to the Canadian Canceer Society.

The BYT bike tour was created from the belief that, with enough motivation, anyone can make a difference. In December of 2013 my Mother was diagnosed with cancer. For months she underwent treatments including chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. Thankfully, she has been in remission since January 2015. Unfortunately, my family's fight is not over. Just a few months ago my Father was diagnosed with cancer. His battle has just begun.

Over the past two years I have watched my parents struggle to maintain their health and quality of life and have felt helpless to do anything about it. Until now. The idea came to me that I could cycle and raise money for the people who have helped us these last two years. And so the BYT bike tour was born.

As the tour progresses, I will keep you up to date on my adventures. The trip will be very basic. I do not have a support van nor do I have paid accommodations and will be camping for the majority of the trip. I feel that this bare bones approach to touring will be more effective as I would like as much to go to the charity as possible.

If you would like to support the Bare Your Teeth bike tour, we will be fundraising in every city along the way so please come out and show your support. If you would prefer to donate online, there will be a donations website up in the next week so keep your eyes peeled. If you would like to volunteer with us or ride along side us during any stretch of our trip, please email us at bareyourteethbiketour@gmail.com. And don't forget to like our Facebook page www.facebook.com/bareyourteethbiketour

Thanks to everyone for your love and support,

Katrina
